    Abby Neale

I use art to help students investigate the world around them and imagine their own worlds.

When making art, students use the skills of observation, investigation, imagination, and creation.  I love drawing on eclectic inspirations, ranging from cartoons, to math, to contemporary art in my lessons.  Too often, we think about art as separate from their daily lives, as a teacher, I love identifying the artistic inspiration that surrounds us.

Abby Neale's artistic practice combines installation, fiber art, and socially engaged art.  She earned her B.A. from Bennington College in 2013 with a double major in visual arts and social sciences.  Teaching at camps, art centers, and community programs in Vermont and New Jersey, she started cultivating a multidisciplinary approach to arts education investigations.  She also spent a year teaching English as a second language in Thailand, which drew her to inclusive environments.  She is now completing a MAT in K-8 arts education at MassArt.
