The MFA, Boston, has added ASL to its languages on the Multimedia highlights tour. This tour, on an iPod touch platform, looks at over 125 pieces of artwork from all parts of the Museum. Visitors who are Deaf may borrow the guide for free to tour the Museum any time the Museum is open.
The tour will be demonstrated by Leon Jerfita and Ayisha Knight-Shaw, Deaf guides who sign the tour. MFA staff who worked on the project will be available to help demonstrate and answer questions. Everyone who comes will have the opportunity to borrow one of these guides and try it in the galleries.
Leon Jerfita lead a tour in ASL in the galleries the same night at 6:45 p.m. This tour is for individuals who are fluent in American Sign Language. Attendance is limited to 12 participants.
To attend this event, request an admission ticket from any cashier (the Museum is free after 4:00 p.m. on Wednesdays) and join the fun in the Sharf Visitor Center.
For more information or to be added to the MFA’s distribution list for news of upcoming events in ASL, please email access@mfa.org.
