An exhibit of tSOfi Inbar's photography, Discovering the Extraordinary in the Ordinary, will take place October 2 - 30, 2012 in Newton Free Library's Main Hall, 330 Homer Street. Opening reception is Wednesday, October 3 from 7-8:30pm.
tSOfi's photography explores and rediscovers the world and life around us. By experimenting with unusual perspectives and special angles, changing relative proportions, and capturing reflections, shadows and overlooked details, her images give these visions lives of their own.
tSOfi captures surprising views amid the familiar landscapes of ordinary life. The mundane becomes a mysterious new world. Familiar doors open into unknown places. Small details become the center of a universe alive with color, reflections, and new perspective.
By turning the ordinary into the extraordinary, tSOfi reveals it's not "what" we see, but "how" we see that gives us the most joy and meaning.
tSofi recently became a creative photographer after a long career as a senior software engineer, computer consultant and teacher. Her images have appeared in juried exhibitions around Boston, including an MFA jury selection (also for a SMFA catalog cover) and as Top Award choice by the Danforth Art Museum Director. She was chosen as the photographer for the Israeli Consulate's Celebrated Israeli Artists of New England exhibit.
