What are your favorite pastimes?
"I deeply love listening to podcasts – they're free, and it's just so great to be just commuting to school or work, and absorbing information and culture like a sponge. (Thanks, NPR!) I also love traveling, making art with kids, visiting flea markets, swimming in lakes, eating treats, and singing."
If you could be a cartoon character, who would you be?
"It's not exactly a cartoon character, but 100% the Swedish Chef from the Muppets. I'd just throw food around and sing in gibberish all day. That sounds like a great day."
You are trapped on an island. What three items do you want to have with you?
"Good company, good food, and the internet. (Hope that's not cheating.)"
Do you have any uncommon talents or quirks?
"I will try any kind of food. So, yes, I've had stuff like crickets and guinea pig and cow's stomach . . . not saying they're favorites, but food is such an essential part of culture, that I can't imagine why you would limit yourself and not try something even once."
What brings you to VSA?
"Usually the red line, but sometimes the 504 bus. (Sorry.)"
"As a Teaching Assistant at Perkins School for the Blind, it was really important to me that my students at Perkins have the opportunity to enjoy all amazing culture that Boston has to offer. Additionally, prior to coming to VSA and enrolling in graduate school for Arts in Education, I interned at several art museums and saw from their side of operations how those accessible programs are put together. While at VSA, I hope to learn more about accessibility programs in other cultural institutions."
What are you doing during your internship?
"I'm going to be helping with development – writing grant proposals, adding to research about the COOL Schools residency programs, and investigating potential corporate sponsors. I'm really looking forward to watching the good folks of VSA in action!"
