    Sarah

My work as a teaching visual artist in a school setting is influential to all students.  I aim to teach students the basics of art in the world around them as well as teaching students problem solving skills and creative thinking to help them navigate the world as a whole.

I believe my students can do anything.  It is my job as their teacher to give students the tools they need to explore the art world and world around them.  Visual Art education is essential in schools as it allows for students of a wide variety of abilities to succeed in their own way, allows for individual expression, and allows students to delve into creative problem solving.  I design visual art lessons meant for expression and no one “right answer” or outcome; making the work my students create as diverse as they are.

    Sarah Sharp - MFA

I am a student at Massachusetts College of Art and Design.  I was given the opportunity to work as an intern at the Dr. William Henderson Inclusion Elementary School (The Henderson) through VSA Massachusetts.  I work with the current art teacher, Mark Johnson, to teach grades Pre-K-5.  Mark Johnson and I collaborate and co-teach all classes together at the Henderson for all grade levels.  In the past I have worked with a small team to develop drop in art projects based on work in a gallery setting.  I have worked as a co-teacher for a High School figure drawing class.  I have also worked as a teaching assistant for grades 4-12 for various summer programs.

Expected to graduate in May 2014 with a BFA in Art Education.  Taught in multiple settings including gallery, school, weekend programs, and summer programs.
