Call For Entries: Rochester Contemporary Art Center "6x6x2014" Show

Rochester Contemporary Art Centerโs (RoCo) international small art phenomenon returns for the 7th year! Help us once again to build an incredible exhibition of thousands of artworks made and donated by celebrities, international and local artists, designers, college students, youths, and YOU. Each artwork must be 6x6 square inches (15cm) or mounted to a 6x6 board, signed only on the back, and exhibited anonymously. Artists may enter up to 6 artworks of any medium (2D or 3D) and there is no fee to enter. All entries will be accepted and exhibited in the gallery and online. All artworks will be offered for sale to the public for $20 each to benefit RoCo. Artist names will be revealed to the buyer upon purchase, and all artworks will remain on display through July 13, 2014

FIGMENT NYC 2014 is a two-day participatory arts event held on Governors Island, showcasing art that encourages participants to play, dance, sing, create, engage, experiment, and explore their environment. The event accepts submissions from artists of all ages and experience. Theatre, dance, music, performance art, games, creative costuming, workshops and activities are all common genres found at FIGMENT.
Competition: VSA Playwright Discovery Competition

The VSA Playwright Discovery Competition invites middle and high school students to take a closer look at the world around them, examine how disability affects their lives and the lives of others, and express their views through the art of script writing. Writers may write from their own experience and observations, or create fictional characters and settings. Scripts can be comedies, dramas, or even musicals --be creative! Young writers with and without disabilities are encouraged to submit a script. Entries may be the work of an individual student or a collaboration by a group of students.

The Painting Center, an artist run, not-for-profit gallery in the heart of Chelsea, announces a call for entries for its upcoming, juried exhibition entitled Shifting Ecologies, running from June 17-July 12, 2014. Highly publicized with a catalog, the exhibition will feature a diverse group of artists who are exploring ecological issues and changes to the environment. We invite representational and abstract artists to submit work that considers all facets of ecological transformation.

Avaloch Farm Music Institute provides a unique opportunity for chamber music ensembles at any stage of development to have the time and space to work intensively on repertoire; prepare for recordings, concerts or competitions; work with composers on commissions; and forge or reconnect to a group musical identity. In addition, Avaloch Farm intends to provide a setting for arts and educational organizations to meet to concentrate on their particular mission. Length of residencies can vary from one to six weeks

The VCCA is a year-round community that provides a supportive environment for superior national and international visual artists, writers, and composers of all economic and cultural backgrounds to pursue their creative work without distraction in a pastoral residential setting. Admission to VCCA is highly selective, based on a review of applications by panels of professional artists. The current application is for a residency period stretching from October to January.

The fourth edition of the (e)merge Art Fair will take place October 2-5, 2014, in Washington, DC, at the Capitol Skyline Hotel. Fair programming will include curator and collector panel discussions, tours, and performances. Artists currently without gallery representation whose proposals are selected by the vetting committee, including international artist Ai Weiwei, will have the opportunity to exhibit their works at no charge throughout the hotel and its grounds. Whereas work in all media (including painting, sculpture, works on paper, and photography) will be carefully considered, projects involving experimental works in non-traditional formats are especially encouraged. Such work may include installation, conceptual art, performance, new media, or the inventive use of materials to express challenging concepts. Each applicant will receive a complimentary day pass to the fair.

ArtCenter/South Florida's Studio Residency Program is ideal for artists who are committed to experimentation and innovation, seeking artistic & professional development, and are interested in being a part of and contributing to a dynamic community of local, national and international artists and creative thinkers. Located in the heart of South Beach, ArtCenter offers a unique visual arts residency experience in an urban, yet tropical setting. With a constant flow of visitors, ranging from beach lovers to art collectors, ArtCenter resident artists engage with the public on a regular basis. An ArtCenter residency offers opportunities for cross-cultural exchange with South Florida-based artists and audiences, with 38 partially-subsidized workspaces appropriate for visual artists working in most mediums.

Now in its 18th year, No Dead Artists has become an exhibition that has time and again discovered new and emerging talent and is one of the most celebrated art exhibitions in the South. Hosted each year by the Jonathan Ferrara Gallery in New Orleans, the exhibition's name is derived from the old adage that artists never achieve success until they are dead. No Dead Artists turns that notion on its head and gives emerging artists their first break in the art world. No Dead Artists is open to living artists working in the United States. All mediums are accepted, including, but not limited to, painting, sculpture, design, glass, metalwork, photography, video, mixed media and installation art.

VSA and Volkswagen Group of America proudly announce the 2014 Emerging Young Artists Program call for entries. Emerging young visual artists with disabilities, ages 16-25, are invited to reflect on the theme The Journey - internal and external, personal and communal, human and technological - our journeys shape our aesthetic and environmental terrain and define our daily lives. 15 artists will be selected to travel to Washington, D.C. for professional development workshops and a reception on Capitol Hill. Selected work will tour nationally. With the generous support of Volkswagen, awards include a $20,000 grand prize, $10,000 for first place, $6,000 for second place, and 12 awards of excellence at $2,000 each.
Competition: The International Competition for Composers and Soloists "The Respighi Prize"

The Respighi Prize has been established to encourage and offer a performance opportunity for young talented composers and soloists through the inspiration of Ottorino Respighi's music. Participants must be currently enrolled in (or recent graduates of) music conservatory or college and under 40 years of age. Winners will receive a Certificate Award as Winner of The Respighi Prize, the chance to perform as a featured soloist with the Chamber Orchestra of New York, and a recording of the concert for archive and promotional use.

The Gallery Underground announces solo or group exhibition opportunities for artists from the Greater Washington, DC area. We are searching for talented professional artists with a cohesive body of work to exhibit in our new, 380 square foot Special Exhibitions space in the heart of Crystal City, Arlington. The Gallery Underground offers one evening reception, promoted in local publications and to our extensive patron list, and our full time gallery staff handles all sales, processes payments, assists in exhibit installation, and helps coordinate exhibit receptions.
