    Call for Entry: THE SEED
    Deadline: September 1, 2014
    THE SEED is for artists working in a variety of mediums.  Each artist will be given one dream, the same dream, to read and use as a inspiration in creating one piece of art.  The dream, THE SEED, is simply a unified launching pad that will serve as an underlying theme for the show.  Artist can interpret/incorporate THE SEED as they see fit in the creation of their work.  All the works will be exhibited together, in one space.  This is an opportunity for artists to work along side other talented individuals, your work standing alone and as part of the whole - creating a venue for cross exposure as well as collaboration.

    Call for Entry: Lore Degenstein Gallery Sixth Annual Figurative Drawing and Painting Exhibition
    Deadline: September 2, 2014
    Lore Degenstein Gallery hosts a juried visual art competition and exhibition open to two-dimensional figurative artists (referencing the human figure), working in painting, drawing, or printmaking, who are over the age of 18.  This year's juror is Pamela Wilson, a figurative artist and art educator living and working in Santa Barbara, California.  Wilson will select the works in the exhibition and announce the awards ($5,000) at the exhibition opening reception.

    The purposes of the Music Teachers National Association Performance competitions are to provide educational experiences for students and teachers and to recognize exceptionally talented young artists and their teachers in their pursuit of musical excellence.  The state competitions are considered the primary educational level with the division and national levels showcasing outstanding performance and honoring significant pedagogical achievement.
    - Composition Competitions
    The purpose of the Music Teachers National Association composition competition is to encourage creativity and self-expression in student musicians through the art of composing and to recognize their achievements, as well as the significant work of their teachers.

    Call for Entries: 'Translations' Emergent Art Space
    Deadline: September 30, 2014
    Emergent Art Space invites students and emerging artists under the age of 30 to participate in an international exhibition series on the theme: 'TRANSLATIONS'.  Trans-lating: to bring across, to transfer, to transport, to make understandable in another language, to make accessible to another culture.  Translating from one language to another, from one expressive medium to another.  Translations as a way to expand our understanding, to facilitate communication.  Translations as a pressing issue in contemporary society that is connected yet divided.  Both globally and locally, in our communities and in our personal lives.  What is lost in translation and what is found?

    $750 Burke & Bagley Prize 2014 for Brass Quintet

    Announcing the 2014 Burke & Bagley Prize for Brass Quintet!  $750 will be awarded for the best video of EARLY MORNING ON THE WATER and the winners will be invited to perform on the Composer's Voice Concert Series in New York!  Make a video of your brass quintet performance of EARLY MORNING ON THE WATER, post the video to YouTube, submit the link, and win $750!  Sheet music for EARLY MORNING ON THE WATER is available for free download from Art of Sound Music.  There is no fee to enter.  Anyone may participate.  There are no age or nationality restrictions.  The outstanding international panel of judges include Louis Hanzlik, Steve O'Connor, Ben Jacks, George Krimperis and Bill Pritchard.  Download the flyer and spread the word!

    Juried Exhibition Call for Entries: Original works in any medium, on or of paper, traditional or experimental, including photographs, qualify.  Work must have been completed within the last two years and not previously exhibited in an Americas 2000 exhibition.  Cash and purchase awards.  Solo show for Best of Show.  Juror: James Ehlers, Emporia, KS.  Entries will be judged from high resolution electronic images.

    Request for Proposal: Public Art Project for Medfield, MA
    Deadline: November 21, 2014
    An Ideas Competition to repurpose massive water pump components from the 1890s that once powered a now abandoned mental hospital, into sculpture or functional items like seating or bike racks, way-finding and signage.  One winning entry will receive $1,000.  Open to all.  The project will celebrate the quirky anomalies and rich history of the site.  When the property is developed, this may be one of the only remaining items to tell a story of the place.  The goal is to bring the winning idea to life and connect residents and visitors to the new park, hiking trails, river vistas, and history of the area.

    Montreal International Musical Competition (MIMC) Voice
    Deadline: December 15, 2014
    This high-calibre competition is open to young classical singers from around the world who intend to pursue a professional career.  The required repertoire and the online registration form will be available this autumn.

    First Cliburn International Junior Piano Competition and Festival
    Deadline: January 9, 2015
    The First Cliburn International Junior Piano Competition and Festival, a competition and festival for 13 to 17-year-old pianists, will take place June 21-28, 2015, in Fort Worth, Texas in Ed Landreth Auditorium and PepsiCo Hall on the campus of TCU.  1997 Cliburn Gold Medalist, in-demand touring artist, and esteemed adjudicator Jon Nakamatsu will serve as jury chairman, and the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra will perform with each of three finalists under the baton of dynamic conductor Mei-Ann Chen.  Competition performances will be webcast live at Cliburn.org.

    Call For Entries: The Gallery Underground

    The Gallery Underground announces solo or group exhibition opportunities for artists from the Greater Washington, DC area.  We are searching for talented professional artists with a cohesive body of work to exhibit in our new, 380 square foot Special Exhibitions space in the heart of Crystal City, Arlington.  The Gallery Underground offers one evening reception, promoted in local publications and to our extensive patron list, and our full time gallery staff handles all sales, processes payments, assists in exhibit installation, and helps coordinate exhibit receptions.
